OpenRouter Setup

OpenRouter provides access to models from multiple vendors. Capabilities depend on the routed model.

Create an API key

  1. Open OpenRouter Keys.
  2. Create a key and copy it securely.

Connect EspoCRM

  1. Open Administration > Integrations > AI » OpenRouter.
  2. Enable the integration.
  3. Enter the API key.
  4. Click Test & Fetch Models.
  5. Select a model and test again to verify generation.
  6. Save.
  7. Select OpenRouter under Administration > AI Settings > General when it should be the default provider.

Choose a tool-capable model for CRM-aware Chat. Confirm file inputs and structured output with the exact routed model before enabling them for users.

Troubleshooting

  • Confirm the OpenRouter key and credit balance.
  • Verify that the selected model is available to the account.
  • Check whether the routed model supports tools and the requested file type.
  • Review AI Log for the failed request.
