AI Profiles

AI Profiles provide reusable model and instruction settings for specific jobs.

A profile contains:

  • Name
  • Provider — optional; leave empty to use the default provider
  • Model — optional; leave empty to use the provider's default model
  • Context — instructions applied when the profile is used
  • Knowledge Articles — optional reference material
  • Assigned User and Teams for normal record ownership and access

Profiles do not control CRM tool permissions. Chat tools are authorized from the acting user's EspoCRM roles, record access, field access, and administrator status.

Create a profile

  1. Open Administration > AI Profiles.
  2. Click Create.
  3. Enter a name and concise context.
  4. Select a provider and model only when this profile needs to differ from the defaults.
  5. Optionally link Knowledge Base articles.
  6. Save.

Provider and model information

The model list comes from the configured provider. When information is available, the selector also shows:

  • Context and output limits
  • Supported input and output modalities
  • Tool-calling and structured-output support
  • Reasoning capability
  • Estimated input and output pricing
  • Alpha, beta, or deprecated status

This information is advisory. Private, local, fine-tuned, and unknown models remain selectable.

Catalog metadata is obtained server-side from models.dev and cached. Ebla AI does not send provider keys, CRM records, usernames, or selected-record information to the catalog. If the catalog is unavailable or stale, provider discovery and normal AI use continue.

Context

Use Context for one job-specific instruction, for example:

Act as a concise sales assistant. Separate confirmed CRM facts from suggestions.

Context supports the variables documented under Global AI Instructions.

Avoid putting API keys, credentials, or confidential instructions into a broadly accessible profile.

Knowledge Articles

Link Knowledge Base articles when a profile needs policies, product information, procedures, or approved talking points.

Article content is loaded when the request runs, so later article updates are used automatically. Ebla AI includes only articles and fields the acting user can read.

Keep articles focused. Large or unrelated article sets increase token use and can reduce answer quality.

Assign profiles

Profiles can be assigned as:

  • The global default under AI Settings > AI Features
  • A feature default for Chat, Summary, Email, Smart Paste, or another feature
  • A profile linked to an AI Prompt
  • An explicit profile used by an administrator in the Sandbox

Feature-specific profile selectors in AI Settings

If no usable profile is found, the extension uses the selected default provider and its default model.
